My value-based upbringing and experiences as a child always influenced me to think about the greater good, to look beyond myself, seek the truth, surrender to the almighty and look at life as a wonderful chance to do selfless good and spread love.
As a child growing up in a small coastal town in southern India, I had many humbling experiences seeing the lives of people in low income and poverty, their rationed approach to life to optimize value from all their resources. Having just a little bit more, could allow an eye exam for an old grandparent, or more frequent medical check-ups for a diabetic parent. Preventative care, early intervention and diagnosis is a pure luxury that many low income families couldn’t afford. It is almost always a choice between the next meal, home rent vs a proactive healthcare spend. To no surprise, proactive healthcare spending does not win.
My teenage years were shaped by these realities of low income lives which fueled in me a strong resolve to be financially independent and a deep sense of accountability toward the community by way of doing something and making a difference. Time passed, life happened and now I live thousands of miles away from my home town leading a busy career and family. I continued to keep my calling alive and gave back in many fragmented ways with always a deep desire to do more in a structured and scalable way. I knew this meant something entrepreneurial, but wait, now is not the time, don’t I already have an overflowing plate?
Yes, I do and it always will be that way. That’s when Covid-19 engulfed the planet, and sent another trigger exposing the deep inequalities and the perils that come with it. The need is now, the time is now. Before I realized, a few of us were already talking, doing and Kinaara Foundation was born. While the intent is no accident, the shape and form is somewhat triggered. I trust that we will keep marching forward with the mission to serve and make an impact, for I believe in ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ - the world is one family!
I am a firm believer in equity. It is unacceptable that there is significant population that is left behind and does not have access to basic healthcare and therefore does not have a fighting chance at life.

While we are realistic about the complexity of what we are trying to impact, we are hoping to sow the seeds of change, so they may one day be the trees of life - in the most underserved parts of India.
